Market Bosworth is a small historic town in the West of Leicestershire with a population of about 2,100. Although a predominantly rural centre, the town boasts a host of bars, restaurants and shops such as Courtyard Candy, an old fashioned sweet shop in the Courtyard which is positioned next door to Cafe Torte. Call into Cafe Torte for a sumptious slice of cake and delicious warming coffee. The Black Horse Restaurant is the finest in fine dining and for that spicy flavour visit Simla Peppers who bring India's rural cuisine to the town.

The town is situated close to the famous Battlefield of Bosworth. On August 22nd 1485 Richard III was defeated by Henry Tudor who was later crowned Henry VII. This famous battle ended the War of the Roses and established the Tudor dynasty.

Around the central Market Place are shields displaying the arms of some of the major families who fought in the battle.

The centre of the town was designated a conservation area in 1984 and there are about 60 listed buildings, including Bosworth Hall which is now a hotel.

The Quincentenary of the Battle of Bosworth was celebrated in 1985 and many visitors were expected from all around the world. Floral displays were put around the town as part of the celebrations and the organisers decided to enter the Britain in Bloom competition. In that first year, Bosworth in Bloom became Regional winners, England winners which then led to competing in the UK finals.

The residents of Market Bosworth are most conscientious in their efforts to maintain a tidy and attractive environment and are wholehearted in their support for Bosworth in Bloom, both physically and financially.
